Carrizozo's 12 St. Burros

Coming into the town of Carrizozo, New Mexico I whizzed by a sign saying something about "don't miss the burros on 12th street". I found they were really all over town, but the majority were on 12th Street. You can find more info. about them here http://www.carrizozoartandantiques.com/aboutus.html. They aren't cheap!

Carrizozo is proud of its town, it has a highway marker as you enter and a different one as you leave.   I plan to do another post on Carrizozo, and will include the houses on 12th Street, different but artistic in a way.

Some were perched on top of buildings

Checkout the Ben Franklin store, I hadn't seen one of those in years.

This  isn't a "painted burro" but it was on the street just begging someone to snap a shot, I did and include it here.

  2. The Crane Festival was in Socorro, but it could have been on your route. If you're like me, my route zig zags all over the place. Perhaps "what route?" would better describe my trip plans.

    1. yes.... the state park there... oh, yes, I meander ... get lost ... reroute and then get lost and keep on going. I've found some great places doing that ... the Valley of Fires? was around there somewhere... I went on down to White Sand Monument then to El Paso - was going to Ruidoso and Carlsbad Caverns ... but I just had had enough of the desert.

I had been traveling 8 months and was heading to the Texas Gulf coast to spend the winter ... also wanted to see Big Bend.... went there then boogied on ...

I began last March and am now back in Little Rock but not home. It's a looong story... all in my blog - interesting to go back and see where I was and what I was thinking on a particular day...

Did you join? Do you see the blue rectangle? I'm glad to meet another van person .. who said ..

"Driving a large vehicle or towing gives me the eeeveegeebee's. I refused to be defeated in my desire to see the USA my way. Got a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan and converted to a tent on wheels that keeps the bears and snakes out, gets 21 mpg..."

      Exactly ...
