Guadalupe National Back Country Byway

The Guadalupe National Back Country Byway begins about 12 miles north of Carlsbad, NM. It runs for 30 miles, and travels from the cholla cactus in the Chihuahuan Desert west of Carlsbad into the pines of the Guadalupe Mountains.  Beneath the surface are caves including Carlsbad Caverns.

The Byway extends from the intersection of US 285 and State Highway 137 to the Lincoln
National Forest boundary 30 miles to the southwest.
