Buffalo National River in Arkansas

America's First National River

Established in 1972, Buffalo National River flows freely for 135 miles and is one of the few remaining undammed rivers in the lower 48 states.

I love traveling in the "off season". There was only one other camper there the night I camped in this beautiful, quiet place.

This watermelon vine was growing in a bed of rocks. Someone must have been eating watermelons on the river bank. Frost will get this soon as it was almost Halloween when I was there.

Rocks with lots of holes.
I am always amazed when I see vegetation growing from solid rock. I grew up on a farm and thought plants needed dirt.
Early morning mist.
